Growth continues with new CEO appointment
Construction Materials Online (CMO), one of the UK’s leading online retailers, has appointed Andy Dunkley as its new CEO. Joining from global private equity firm, Sun Capital Partners, Andy will be responsible for driving and continuing CMO’s strategic growth across markets, following a £8.65m investment from capital market company, Key Capital Partners (KCP) last year.
In his previous role as Group Chief Operating Officer at Sun Capital Partners, Andy worked with a variety of organisations, ranging from £50m – £500m in turnover, helping to drive continued business growth and performance across changing markets, primarily using eCommerce.
Prior to this from 2008 – 2016, Andy held the position of CEO at Europe’s leading denim brand, Lee Cooper. During his time as CEO, Andy successfully led the company’s transition from a jeans wholesaler to a globally recognised lifestyle brand, tripling its turnover to more than $500m. As part of his role, Andy also worked across several international markets, including France, Luxembourg, and Poland.
As one of the UK’s leading online suppliers of construction materials, CMO is the parent company of three successful eCommerce brands, Roofing Superstore, Insulation Superstore and Drainage Superstore, selling over 50,000 products across its sites. With strong relationships with some of the world’s leading suppliers, including VELUX, Dupont, Klober, and ACO, along with a focus on customer service, CMO has grown sales across its websites by over 50% in the last 12 months.
In his new role as CEO, Andy will be instrumental in leading CMO as it continues with its high growth strategy across various markets within the construction sector.
Commenting on his appointment, Andy said: “As an innovative online company which has already experienced exponential growth, it is fantastic to be joining the CMO team. CMO has quickly evolved to become one of the UK’s most trusted and agile online businesses, and I look forward to working with the team and helping to guide it through its next stage of strategic growth.
I will be using my experience of working with some of the world’s most innovative, high profile brands and businesses to continue CMO’s success, reaching new customers and markets by taking advantage of the limitless opportunities presented by eCommerce.”
Andy will be working at the company’s head office in Plymouth and is in the process of relocating to the South West from Milton Keynes. Commenting on his move, Andy said: “Both my family and I are looking forward to moving to Plymouth and I plan to be an active member of both the local community and business landscape.”
Callum Tasker, Construction Materials Online added: “We are delighted to welcome Andy to the CMO team. His proven track record of success, along with his extensive experience of working with fast growth, influential companies, means he is perfectly positioned to maximise future growth opportunities and cement our position as a leading online construction retailer.
“eCommerce is constantly evolving and adapting to increasing demand – and none more so than in the construction industry. Our innovative approach to online retail and customer service, along with our extensive product range, means we have already grown significantly in just a few years, and hope that with Andy’s expertise we can further refine, develop and expand our offering.”
