CMO moves to new premises as warehouse triples in size

An old bread factory in Plymouth is brought back to life, as eCommerce business Construction Materials Online takes up residence in new premises.

CMO recently moved into a brand new warehouse space.

The rapidly growing parent company of Roofing Superstore, Drainage Superstore and Insulation Superstore, currently based at the Airport Business Centre in Estover, has brought forward a move into its prestigious new facilities at Burrington Industrial Estate ahead of schedule.

Having outgrown its current offices, plans were made to relocate to the new premises mid-summer 2018. But with more customers came a need for more stock and a bigger warehouse. This led to part of the team moving into the new location early.

Meeting increasing customer demand

Construction Materials Online’s Operations Director Callum Tasker explained, “We have increased our range of products stocked and the volume of stock due to customer demand, so it became urgent to get into the new warehouse as early as possible.

“While there’s still work ongoing in preparation for the complete office move, we were able to accelerate things to get the distribution area ready sooner. It’s no mean feat organising a commercial move like this, but I’m pleased with how smoothly it’s gone. The dispatch team is excited and raring to go in their gleaming new warehouse!”

The new warehouse has 15,000 square feet of space.

Construction Materials Online collected the keys to its new Burrington premises in January. It will now benefit from 15,000 square feet of warehouse space — more than triple its original 4,500 square feet.

The next phase is completing work on the offices, which will house the rest of the company. This includes each superstore’s team of expert customer service advisers, which set the company apart from other online building merchants.

Construction Materials Online is keen to create a dynamic new workspace for its staff, and is working with local company Broadbase — the designers behind The Guardian’s offices — to deliver its vision. Staff will permanently take up residence in Burrington Industrial Estate in summer 2018.
