PHP Web Developer

We are looking for a PHP Web Developer to join our in-house development team, located in Plymouth. is a national online supplier of building materials, sold across four specialist ecommerce stores. Our first site launched in 2009 and has grown to become the leading online retailer for roofing materials in the UK. As the company is expanding, we are seeking a proactive, self-starting and experienced PHP Developer to join our growing team and support our Technical Director and Senior Developers.

Purpose of the role

You will be helping develop our custom ecommerce platform and websites so strong experience building systems on a LAMP stack is essential as well as front-end skills (HTML/HTML5/CSS/JavaScript). We are offering an annual salary of £25,000 to £31,000 (dependent on experience) and in return you will have the opportunity to gain experience working for a national company. Essential experience includes:
  • Linux Apache MySQL PHP (LAMP stack)
  • CSS/CSS3
  • JavaScript (preferably using the jQuery library)
  • Cross-browser and cross-device development (e.g. responsive design)
  • GIT
  • Basic server administration
  • HTML email development
  • Ability and desire to learn new technologies
  • Significant experience in a Web Developer position
  • Symfony or alternative framework
It would be an advantage if you have further experience in the following areas:
  • Website deployment strategies
  • Knowledge of open source platforms and software
  • Understanding of PSR standards
